Despite the fact that we’ve had a trailer for Deadpool, it’s still a little difficult to believe that the movie is actually happening. Poor old Ryan Reynolds spent years being asked if it was in the works, and the more time that passed, the less likely it seemed that it would become a reality. Thank goodness then for whoever leaked the test footage which forced Fox’s hand!

Talking to the Toronto International Film Festival, producer Simon Kinberg confirmed that he’s seen an early cut of the R-Rated superhero movie, and while you would expect him to say good things, Fox brass are impressed enough to already be considering a sequel.

“I have seen a rough cut of Deadpool and it’s fantastic,” he confirmed. “It’s a really good movie. It delivers on the promise of the trailer,” he reveals. “We certainly are talking about the sequel…But yeah [Fox is] feeling good about it, we’re all feeling really proud of it, so hopefully before it comes out we will be well into the process of figuring out a sequel.”

One character comic book fans would love to see in a future Deadpool movie is Cable, a character who joined the Merc with the Mouth on many of his adventures; they’re very much an odd couple (Cable is the son of Cyclops and Jean Grey who grew up in the future).

“It’s certainly come up because he’s such a big character in the world. And it’s a character that I’ve always wanted to do in one form or another, we talked about Cable actually in Days of Future Past at one point,” he teased. “But yeah we’re in such the early stages of sequel talk it would be genuinely premature for me to say whether or not he was gonna be in it.”
