The list of original cast members who will make cameo appearances in Paul Feig’s female led Ghostbusters reboot continues to grow, as Sigourney Weaver has now joined the likes of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts. Unfortunately, like the rest of those actors, it’s unlikely that Weaver is going to be reprising her original role (and as a result, it’s a little difficult to see what the point is of having them all make a return in this movie).

Less than a day after lashing out at fans who have been criticising the direction of his new take on the Ghostbusters franchise, a clearly frustrated Feig took to Twitter earlier today to confirm that the Alien actress will be making what was supposed to be a surprise cameo.

“Gang, trying to keep surprises but this is about to leak, so I’ll tell you myself: the awesome Sigourney Weaver is going to be in our movie!” Set photos and rumours have ensured that pretty much non of these planned cameos have remained a secret, hence why we know Aykroyd is playing a taxi driver, Murray is a ghost sceptic, and Potts is a receptionist.

While Feig and Sony are no doubt hoping these cameos will will over Ghostbusters fans who aren’t sold on the prospect of a reboot, it remains to be seen whether or not that will work!

The main cast of the Ghostbusters reboot includes Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon, and Chris Hemsworth, and it’s set to be released on July 22nd, 2016.
