Daredevil (starring Charlie Cox as the Man Without Fear) debuts on Netflix next year, and it is the first of five Marvel TV shows which will be released through the online streaming service. The others are Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and The Defenders. The latter brings together the four heroes as a team.

According to a new report, Marvel have now begun inviting actresses in to test for the role of Jessica Jones, a superhero suffering with post-traumatic stress disorder, which leads to her hanging up her costume and opening her own detective agency, where she ends up helping people and assisting other superheroes.

Among those being considered for Jessica Jones by Marvel and Netflix are Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad), Alexandra Daddario (True Detective), Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies) and Jessica De Gouw (Arrow).

Each of these actresses would bring something very different to the role, and whoever ends up landing the role, it will be very difficult to find fault with Marvel and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg’s decision!

There’s also news on Luke Cage, with the site revealing that he will appear in six or seven episodes of Jessica Jones before then getting his own series. Two names have emerged as being in the running for this part, and those are slightly less familiar faces Lance Gross (Crisis) and Mike Colter (The Following).
