Despite breaking records when it premiered back in 2013, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has become only a moderate hit for Marvel and ABC. While the series started off slowly, itfound its footing with episodes tying into the events of Captain America: The Winter Solider, and has since become essential viewing for comic book fans.

According to a new report, fan-favourite Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stars Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood are finalising deals to star as the leads of a mysterious spinoff which is thought to take place after season two.

It won’t delve into the back story of the former husband and wife then, instead telling a new adventure featuring Lance Hunter/Mockingbird and mercenary Lance Hunter. Of course, we don’t know the actual premise of the series or who else might be joining these two as of yet, so we’ll just just to wait and see.

Executive producer Jeffrey Bell (Angel) and series writer Paul Zbyszewski (Lost) are teaming up to develop the spinoff which has not yet been given a green light. A third season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has also yet to be confirmed, while the future of Agent Carter – which still hasn’t aired in the UK – remains in doubt.

This isn’t the only spinoff being developed by Marvel and ABC though, as John Ridley is putting together a show which has been described as a reinvention of an existing superhero character. Many believe it could be Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. character Deathlok, but rumours have also been pointing to the young Ms. Marvel.
