The second trailer has now been released for Creed, the upcoming Rocky spinoff/sequel which will focus on Adonis Creed, the son of former heavyweight champion Apollo (played by Carl Weathers in the original quadrilogy). Despite the initially quite mixed reaction to the news that this movie was happening, the first trailer made it clear that it looks like something special, and this far more emotional preview pretty much just confirms that.

Chronicle and Fantastic Four star Michael B. Jordan will play the young boxer in the movie. Sylvester Stallone meanwhile reprises his role as Rocky Balboa. Creed will follow Adonis after he discovers that he has a talent for boxing, leading to him tracking down Rocky and asking him to become his trainer/mentor. As well as shedding more light on the story, we see plenty of boxing in this new look at Creed, and it definitely looks like it does the sport justice.

Creed was written by Ryan Coogler (who worked with Jordan on Fruitvale Station), and he’ll also direct. Other stars include Graham McTavish, Tessa Thompson, and Phylicia Rashad. Creed is set to be released this November, and you can watch the trailer in the player below. Fear not Rocky fans, this looks like a worthy entry into the beloved franchise.
