The Mission: Impossible franchise isn’t known for particularly iconic villains, but that could be about to change as British actor Sean Harris has apparently been offered the role of the fifth movie’s lead villain.
It’s still early days and negotiations are ongoing, but the Prometheus and Deliver Us From Evil star has emerged as the clear favourite for the mysterious bad guy role in the movie.
The last movie – Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol was a huge box office success with almost $700 million worldwide, and Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher) steps into the director’s chair for the fifth instalment, taking over from Brad Bird (The Incredibles). Tom Cruise will of course return as Ethan Hunt.
He’ll be joined by an impressive cast which includes returning cast members Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, along with franchise newcomers Alec Baldwin and Rebecca Ferguson.
The currently untitled Mission: Impossible 5 is set to be released on December 25th, 2015 in the US and will like reach the UK the day after, just like Ghost Protocol did back in 2011.
