Channel 4 have revealed their plans for new four-part drama series Southcliffe at the MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival on Thursday.

Written by Red Riding scribe Tony Grisoni, Southcliffe will center on the aftermath of a series of shootings, as told from the perspective of a journalist who hails from the small town in which they occur.

Sean Durkin, who rose to prominence earlier this year with the critically acclaimed cult drama Martha Marcy May Marlene, will direct the four one-hour episodes, before moving onto the proposed Janis Joplin film he attached himself to last year.

Warp Films will produce, with shooting likely to take place over the next few months once casting has been firmed up.
