Sammys-Great-Escape-PosterDue out in UK cinemas next month, Sammy’s Great Escape (a.k.a. Sammy’s Adventures 2) brings us the follow-up to 2010 original animated film, A Turtle’s Tale: Sammy’s Adventures.

With just under a month to go before the film arrives on our shores (no pun intended), StudioCanal have released a new UK trailer, giving us a good look at the upcoming sequel.

“Sammy and Ray, leatherback turtles and friends forever, are enjoying an atoll’s water and sand, shepherding new hatchlings Ricky and Ella out to sea. Suddenly, a poacher swoops in and ships them off to be part of a spectacular aquarium show for tourists in Dubai. The kingpin of the place, Big D the seahorse, enlists them in his plans for a great escape. But with their new friends Jimbo the bug-eyed blob fish, Lulu the snippy lobster and a whole family of penguins, Sammy and Ray hatch breakout plans of their own. That is when little Ricky and Ella arrive, determined to break in to rescue them. After a series of thrilling adventures and narrow escapes, our heroes head south to meet up with Shelly, Sammy’s first and only love.”

Ben Stassen is back in the director’s chair once more, alongside new co-director Vincent Kesteloot. Stassen has reteamed with Domonic Paris (Fly Me to the Moon, A Turtle’s Tale: Sammy’s Adventures) to devise the story, with Paris penning the script itself.

Sammy’s Great Escape will be released in UK theatres on 15th February, and looks like a solid follow-up to those who had a lot of fun with the original a few years back. Here’s the new trailer to give you a taste of what to expect.
