As Akiva Goldsman’s Weed Road production company and Paramount Pictures close a new deal, rumours have surfaced that Goldsman could finally bring to life Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six and that Ryan Reynolds is being lined up to take the lead.

Deadline has reported that “loose talks” have commenced with the Deadpool actor to play Clancy’s Mercenary Hero Ex-Navy Seal, John Clark – In the novel, Clark, becomes head of an international task force to combat terrorism. The team is quickly confronted by a series of international incidents. How close the intended production will keep to Clancy’s novel is yet to be confirmed.

However, it is expected that ‘Without Remorse’ will be the next to be adapted in the Clark series of stories as the character has already been portrayed by Willem Dafoe and Liev Schreiber in both Clear and Present Danger and The Sum of all Fears.

Without Remorse is a thriller novel published in 1993 by Tom Clancy and is a part of the Jack Ryan universe series. The book focuses on the development of one of Clancy’s recurring characters, John Kelly/John Clark while providing the character with some back-story. The book serves to give a history of Kelly’s life and explains how he becomes John Clark.

The book alternates between multiple story arcs, involving: Kelly’s back-story and his personal crusade against a large drug ring responsible for killing his girlfriend Pam; the capture and imprisonment of United States Air Force Colonel Robin Zacharias in a POW camp; major heroin dealer Henry Tucker who is the story’s main antagonist, as well as his Mafia connection Tony Piaggi, and their employment of a corrupt policeman named Mark Charon.

Josh Appelbaum & Andre Nemec will adapt the script.
