Sin City: A Dame to Kill For star Rosario Dawson has joined Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin) in Marvel and Netflix’s upcoming 13-episode Daredevil series which premieres on the on-demand streaming service sometime in 2015.

Interestingly, the official press release doesn’t reveal which character Dawson will be playing. They simply describe her as a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city. So, which well-known Marvel character could this be?

A reimagined version of the assassin Elektra seems like a possibility, and that could be why the studio are playing coy with the reveal. Other options include love interest Karen Page and recent creation, Kirsten McDuffie, an assistant district attorney who ends up working with Matt Murdock.

However, if it was either of those lesser known characters, you would think that Marvel would say so!

“Rosario Dawson is one the most charismatic, talented and powerful actresses in Hollywood, so she was always at the top of our list for ‘Marvel’s Daredevil,’! said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television. “Her role in the series is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock’s journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil.”

Marvel’s Daredevil follows the journey of Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, now fighting against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.

The series will be executive produced by series showrunner Steven S. DeKnight and Drew Goddard.
