RoboCop-PosterWith just a few more months left on the clock before it hits, Sony launched the first trailer for the upcoming RoboCop remake last week, teasing a promising early look at the action blockbuster.

One of the most divisive aspects about the movie so far has been the colour of the suit, changed here from silver/grey to black. And following on from the first trailer, the studio has revealed the first proper poster, with Joel Kinnaman sporting the sleek new suit.

In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years – and it’s meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.

Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Jennifer Ehle, Jay Baruchel, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, and Samuel L. Jackson star alongside Kinnaman, making for a pretty impressive ensemble.

José Padilha (Elite Squad) is behind the camera for the remake, with Josh Zetumer and Nick Shenk (Gran Torino) co-writing the script.

RoboCop will be released in regular and IMAX cinemas on February 7th, 2014 in the UK and US. It’s one of the first blockbusters set to be released next year, and will open opposite The Lego Movie, which should make things very interesting for the box office at the start of the month.
