R.I.P.D.-PosterRobert Schwentke’s R.I.P.D. is definitely one of my most anticipated movies of the summer, with Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges taking the lead for the upcoming action/comedy blockbuster.

The concept of the movie (and, of course, the graphic novel upon which it is based) is just awesome. And I have a great feeling that it’s going to translate brilliantly on the big screen.

With its July release date fast approaching, the first poster has recently been spotted out at CinemaCon in the US. And now the hi-res version has debuted online, giving us a great look at Reynolds and Bridges’ undead cops.

A recently slain cop joins a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department and tries to find the man who murdered him.

Reynolds and Bridges are joined by Mary-Louise Parker, Kevin Bacon, Robert Knepper, James Hong, Stephanie Szostak, and Mike O’Malley.

Schwentke (RED) is directing from a script co-written by Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay (Æon Flux, Clash of the Titans), based on the original Dark Horse comics by Peter M. Lenkov.

R.I.P.D. is set to be released in 3D on July 19th in the US and UK, which is a release date you’ll want to commit to memory. The first trailer is expected to debut online this week, and you can be sure we’ll have it for you as soon as it hits. For now, here’s the awesome first poster, which you can click through to enlarge.
