This is not the first poster we’ve seen for RIPD, the first is an altogether more traditional affair with two guys and their glowing guns. Nothing out of the ordinary, and certainly nothing to suggest any spooky shenanigans. This poster, however, goes one hundred miles in the opposite direction.
Perhaps fearing that two guys and their guns wasn’t enough for the paying public to go on Universal have laid out their scene in full subtlety overload with a Mortal Kombat-esque gateway to Hell and a police car flying through the air. It’s like Ghostbusters meets Police Academy meets The Frighteners meets Ghost and so on.

The supernatural action-adventure R.I.P.D. has two undead cops dispatched by the otherworldly Rest In Peace Department to protect our world from an increasingly destructive array of creatures who refuse to move peacefully to the other side.
It looks nuts, and as close to a Grim Fandango movie as we’re likely to get. The film is out on the 30th of August 2013, so perpare your spines to be chilled and your senses to be thrilled and so on.
