Tragically, it has been confirmed this evening that 27 year old actor Anton Yelchin has died. He was found at his home early this morning pinned against a wall by his car in what is believed to the a freak accident (it seems the vehicle rolled back after he exited it).

Details beyond that are understandably scarce, but police have confirmed that they don’t suspect any sort of foul play. Confirming this isn’t a hoax, Yelchin’s publicist has since addressed the reports which first surfaced on TMZ. “Actor Anton Yelchin was killed in a fatal traffic collision early this morning, his family requests you respect their privacy at this time.”

Perhaps best known for playing Pavel Chekov in the Star Trek franchise (Star Trek Beyond is set to be released next month), the actor also played Kyle Reese in Terminator: Salvation and recently received a great deal of praise for his role in Green Room opposite Sir Patrick Stewart. He’s appeared in a number of other movies, including Fright Night and Like Crazy.

There are a still a number of other movies on the way with Yelchin in them as he recently completed work on upcoming indies We Don’t Belong Here, Rememory, and Porto.

This is obviously a huge loss of a great talent, and our thoughts go out to his family.
