Due out in the spring next year, Rio 2 will bring Anne Hathaway and Jesse Eisenberg back for another animated adventure, picking up a little way down the line from where the original left off, with the duo now having three children under their wings.
The first full-length trailer debuted two months ago, and was more recently followed by a new teaser poster. Now Fox has released a new international poster via its Panamanian arm, giving a look at the family happy to be in the Amazon, with the exception of Eisenberg’s Blu.
The entire cast of the animated smash RIO returns in RIO 2, and they are joined by a new flock of top actors and musical talents. Rich with grandeur, character, color and music, RIO 2 finds Jewel (Anne Hathaway), Blu (Jesse Eisenberg) and their three kids leaving their domesticated life in that magical city for a journey to the Amazon. They encounter a menagerie of characters who are born to be wild, voiced by Oscar nominee Andy Garcia, Oscar/Emmy/Tony-winner Rita Moreno, Grammy winner Bruno Mars, and Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth.
Hathaway and Eisenberg are joined by another fantastic voice cast, even bigger than the last, led by Leslie Mann, Jemaine Clement, Jamie Foxx, George Lopez, will.i.am, Rodrigo Santoro, Tracy Morgan, Bebel Gilberto, Jake T. Austin, Andy Garcia, Bruno Mars, Kristin Chenoweth, Rita Moreno, Amanda Stenberg, Rachel Crow, Janelle Monáe, Pierce Gagnon, and Natalie Morales.
Carlos Saldanha is in the director’s chair once more, co-writing the script with the late Don Rhymer, who co-wrote the first film.
Rio 2 will be released in 3D on 4th April, 2014 in the UK, with its US release date set for the following week on April 11th.
