Rinko Kikuchi is perhaps best known in the West for her spellbinding turn in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Babel, though for some (me) her silent and deadly Bang Bang in Rian Johnson’s The Brothers Bloom is a favourite.
She is one of the very few female actors in Guillermo del Toro’s epic Monster-mash Pacific Rim and I had the chance to sit down with her to discuss this, to talk about how she the director worked on the character and how her path through the film was created.
