One of the biggest criticisms Prometheus faced was the fact that it didn’t really feature a monster as iconic as the Xenomorph. The movie ended with the apparent creation of one of course, but regardless of whether or not that comes into play in Alien: Covenant, Ridley Scott has now confirmed that we’ll be seeing plenty of familiar Xenomorph designs in the movie!

“We’ll have them all,” Scott said of the H.R. Giger designed monsters. “Egg, face-hugger, chest-burster, then the big boy.” The “big boy” is obviously who fans are most excited to see, and it should be very interesting to see how that factors into Alien: Covenant.

Not a huge amount is known about the plot of the Alien prequel right now, though it has been revealed that Michael Fassbender’s android David is going to have a leading role, while Noomi Rapace will only be making a brief appearance as the duo journey to the home of the engineers. A new crew – aboard a ship named the “Covenant” – will also come into play.

“They’re going to go to the planet where the engineers came from,” Scott elaborated when asked about the story, “and come across the evolving creature that they had made. Why did they make it? Why would they make such a terrifying beast? It felt bio-mechanoid, it felt like a weapon. And so the movie will explain that, and reintroduce the alien back into it.”

After numerous delays, Alien: Covenant is finally set to be released on October 6th, 2017.
