A new trailer has been released for Alejandro Inarritu’s The Revenant, and it’s absolutely incredible and pretty much the perfect way to tease this highly anticipated release.
The Revenant tells the true story of Hugh Glass, an American fur trapper in the early 1800s. That’s the role being taken on by Leonardo DiCaprio, and joining him are Tom Hardy and Domhnall Gleeson. They play two men who leave Glass for dead after a grizzly attack. However, he survives and sets off on a 200 mile trek to find them and exact his revenge!
There’s a huge amount of buzz around this movie, and unsurprisingly given the success of Birdman, talk of The Revenant being an Oscar favourite is already doing the rounds.
While The Revenant doesn’t reach the UK until January, it’s set to bow in North America on December 25th, a week after the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. However, DiCaprio revealed in a recent interview that he’s not too worried about the competition.
“I think that people know this time of year is where a lot of great pieces of art are going to come out,” the actor explained. “I would never think that we’d be able to compete with Star Wars — that’s something that’s embedded in our cultural DNA. But I think when people begin to hear about this movie, they’ll want to go see it. And that’s all we can hope for.”
