According to a new report, Relativity Studios have found a director for The Crow. It’s not a name which will be immediately familiar, as Corin Hardy won’t make his live-action feature debut until next year when The Hallow is released. He’s currently best known for helming music videos for Keane and Paolo Nutini.

The Hallow is about a scientist and his family who move to the countryside and must fight off vicious creatures living in the woods. An interesting premise, but it’s still too soon to say if Hardy is the right choice.

The James O’Barr graphic novel is well-loved by fans, as is the movie which was directed by Alex Proyas and starred Brandon Lee (he would of course be tragically killed during filming, making it the actor’s final role).

The site reveals that it was Shaun of the Dead helmer Edgar Wright who recommended Hardy for The Crow remake to Edward R. Pressman, the producer of both the original version and this upcoming take.

Hardy replaces F. Javier Gutiérrez, who was attached to direct before deciding to instead focus on the next instalment of The Ring franchise. Cliff Dorfman penned the screenplay, and producion is expected to begin in the Spring. Though Luke Evans was at one point attached to star, there’s no mention of him here!

The Crow focuses on a rock musician that comes back from the dead to seek revenge against his killers.
