RED-2-Character-Poster-Bruce-WillisIf it’s anywhere near as good as the original, RED 2 is going to be one of the best films of the summer. And if it manages to surpass the greatness that its predecessor achieved, it’s going to be immense.

Hitting theatres this August, RED 2 brings back the original line-up from Robert Schwentke’s 2010 blockbuster, with Bruce Willis leading the way once more as retired CIA agent Frank Moses.

The new trailer is set to premiere online tomorrow, and ahead of its release, Yahoo Movies have debuted a handful of new character posters.

In RED 2, the high-octane action-comedy sequel to the worldwide sleeper hit, retired black-ops CIA agent Frank Moses reunites his unlikely team of elite operatives for a global quest to track down a missing portable nuclear device. To succeed, they’ll need to survive an army of relentless assassins, ruthless terrorists and power-crazed government officials, all eager to get their hands on the next-generation weapon. The mission takes Frank and his motley crew to Paris, London and Moscow. Outgunned and outmanned, they have only their cunning wits, their old-school skills, and each other to rely on as they try to save the world-and stay alive in the process.

Willis is joined by another brilliant cast, reprising his role alongside Mary-Louise Parker, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, and Brian Cox. And to make things that much more awesome, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Anthony Hopkins, Lee Byung-hun, Neal McDonagh, and David Thewlis complete the cast nicely this time around.

Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest, Fun with Dick and Jane) is taking over at the helm in Schwentke’s place, with brothers Erich and Jon Hoeber penning the script once more.

The first teaser trailer debuted at the start of the year, and was more recently followed by a great teaser poster. And the fun just keeps on coming with these awesome new character posters.

RED 2 will be hitting theatres earlier than expected in the US on July 19th, with its UK release date still set for 2nd August. Be sure to come back tomorrow for when the new trailer hits. And for now, here are the new character posters, which you can click through to enlarge.
