Reality-Quad-PosterWith February almost over, we’ve not got long to go at all before Cannes rolls around once more in May. But before it does, we’ve still got a handful of films to look forward to from last year’s festival, and one of those is Matteo Garrone’s Reality.

The film took home the Grand Prix award at the festival last spring, and spent much of last year on the festival circuit. And now it’s finally about to make its way into UK cinemas towards the end of next month, following its UK debut at the London Film Festival last year – you can read our review here.

With just a few more weeks to go before Reality arrives, we’ve had the new trailer and UK quad poster sent our way to share, giving us a new look at the upcoming comedy-drama.

“A fascinating take on the darker side of celebrity culture, REALITY follows the extreme lengths some people will go to for their five minutes of fame.

Luciano is a Neapolitan fishmonger who supplements his modest income by pulling off little scams together with his wife Maria. A likeable and entertaining guy, Luciano never misses an opportunity to perform for his customers and countless relatives. One day his family urge him to try out for a reality TV show. As his perception of reality begins to change, Luciano plunges into a self-delusional fantasy that threatens to destroy his relationship and his loved ones.”

Aniello Arena takes the lead here as Luciano, whose performance has been particularly well received in the film’s early reviews. He’s joined by Loredana Simioli, Nando Paone, Nunzia Schiano, Nello Iorio, Giuseppina Cervizzi, and Rosario D’Urso.

Garrone is directing from a script he co-wrote with Ugo Chiti, Maurizio Braucci, and Massimo Gaudioso.

Garrone made a name for himself back in 2008 with his last film, Gomorrah, earning himself a BAFTA nomination (alongside a slew of other awards and nominations). And it should be interesting to see what he has for us next.

Reality will be released in UK cinemas on 22nd March.
