Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ Can’t Hold Us has been used to brilliant effect across more than one film campaign already this year, and now the latest film to take advantage of the epic tune is Robert Schwentke’s action blockbuster, R.I.P.D.
Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, and Mary-Louise Parker make up what promises to be an awesome leading trio. And following last week’s new featurette, a great new TV spot has been released, set to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ bestselling single.
RYAN REYNOLDS (Safe House, The Proposal) and JEFF BRIDGES (The Big Lebowski, True Grit) headline the 3D supernatural action-adventure R.I.P.D. as two cops dispatched by the otherworldly Rest In Peace Department to protect and serve the living from an increasingly destructive array of creatures who refuse to move peacefully into the afterlife.
The leading trio are joined by a great cast, headed up by Kevin Bacon, Robert Knepper, James Hong, Marisa Miller, Stephanie Szostak, and Mike O’Malley.
Schwentke (RED) is directing from a script Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay (Æon Flux, Clash of the Titans), based on Peter M. Lenkov’s original Dark Horse comic.
For me, RED is hands down one of the best and funniest action-comedy blockbusters we’ve seen in recent years, and that alone gives me reason to think that Schwentke’s return is going to be a lot of fun. The only downside is that we’ve got a while longer to wait before it hits the UK.
R.I.P.D. will be released in 3D in the US on July 19th, following later in the UK on 20th September. In the meantime, here’s the latest TV spot. And if you haven’t already, you can watch the Can’t Hold Us music video here. Enjoy them both.
