Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. got off to a rocky start last year, but a tie-in with Captain America: The Winter Soldier and appearances from a number of well-known Marvel characters like Deathlok and Sif would help breathe new life into the series despite declining – but overall mostly steady – ratings.

Season two looks to keep that newfound momentum going as fan-favourite character Agent Coulson becomes Director Coulson. Meanwhile, a number of familiar genre actors like Lucy Lawless have been secured for guest appearances and G.I. Joe’s Adrianna Palicki will play superhero Mockingbird.

A tie-in with Avengers: Age of Ultron is also expected early next year.

The main cast of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. also includes Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Chloe Bennet as Skye, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, and Brett Dalton as the traitourous Agent Grant Ward (Hail Hydra!).

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is set to return to the US on September 23rd. There’s no word on a UK return, though the series aired on Channel 4 last year. Are you looking forward to the Marvel series’ second year?
