While it is unlikely we will know the full story behind Ridley Scott’s Prometheus until it is safely gestating in cinemas (he is, after all, master of the slow reveal), it appears that despite recent comments suggesting that the film would be a departure from the Alien franchise’s existing mythology – it is in fact set to cover similar ground. The same ground, actually.

Not only has Michael Fassbender been cast as a Bishop-esque android,  Sky’s insiders have revealed that the film will feature H. R. Giger’s titular xenomorphs in a prominent role as well. According to their unnamed source:

“They’ve built the ‘space jockey’ cockpit at Pinewood as seen in the original Alien film, so it definitely takes place in the same world as Alien”

“Despite that press release that seemed to indicate there were no aliens in the movie, the familiar HR Giger-style aliens do appear. Big ones apparently.”

It appear’s that Scott’s previous assurances that “keen fans will recognise strands of Alien’s DNA” were more literal than originally thought as the plot is believed to hinge on the discovery of alien genetic code: perhaps even located on the alien’s homeworld. The insider continued:

“Part of the film will be shot in Morocco. I’ve heard that some sort of archaeological dig where they discover alien DNA takes place there and that DNA gives them the coordinates for an alien world. I’ve also heard Morocco is being used for alien planet landscapes so I’m not sure if it’s an archaeological dig on another planet.”

With Damon Lindelof’s script allegedly boasting an ‘enormous head’ as the ship’s pilot, and the intriguing hints towards giant (space jockey born?) aliens, this project keeps getting weirder and weirder.
