We know what you’re thinking! Avengers: Age of Ultron still hasn’t been released and yet we’re already talking about plans for the third movie (which doesn’t have a release date, but is expected in 2018).

A rumour started doing the rounds recently that Marvel were planning on splitting the Avengers 3 in two, similar to how the finales of Harry Potter and The Hunger Games have been handled. This story was quickly debunked, but some possible story details have emerged which reveal what might be in store for that movie!

There has been talk of Captain America assembling a new team of heroes at the conclusion of next year’s Avengers sequel, and one site now claims to have learned that the third movie will take the focus off the likes of Captain America, Iron Man and Thor, instead putting the spotlight on lesser known superheroes.

However, they will apparently be used elsewhere and many fans are speculating that the main team will head off into outer space to team-up with the Guardians of the Galaxy to battle Thanos while others stay behind to protect Earth. The advantages of handling the third Avengers movie in this way would be that it could lead to a hero like Captain Marvel getting her own spin-off movie after being introduced here.

A lot of the report is made up of speculation, but they make some interesting points about why the movie wouldn’t feature some of the superheroes we’ve grown to know so well over the past few years.

Also, the plans to not include certain characters in The Avengers 3 does apparently come from sources close to the actors, and with many of them reaching the end of their contracts, it makes sense that the studio could choose to use them elsewhere before renegotiating, rebooting or recasting. What do you think?
