Twenty-four years on from Kathryn Bigelow’s original, Bodhi and Johnny Utah will be back on the big screen this year in Warner Bros.’ Point Break remake.

Bigelow’s original, led by Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze, was a modest success when it hit cinemas in the summer of ’91, subsequently finding success as something of a cult classic.

WB was originally positioning this as a summer blockbuster as well. But when M:I 5 moved into the summer season, Point Break got pushed to take its place as a Christmas movie. And with seven months left on the clock, the studio has released the first trailer and poster.

We spoke to Keanu Reeves about the remake earlier in the year.

Point Break is released in UK cinemas January 8th 2016.

A young FBI agent infiltrates an extraordinary team of extreme sports athletes he suspects of masterminding a string of unprecedented, sophisticated corporate heists. Deep undercover, and with his life in danger, he strives to prove these athletes are the architects of the mind-boggling crimes that are devastating the world’s financial markets.

Édgar Ramirez and Luke Bracey star in the roles previously played by Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves. And joining them will be the thoroughly under-rated Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies, Kill Me Three Times) and Ray Winstone (The Sweeney, London Boulevard).

Ericson Core (Invincible) makes his sophomore feature at the helm, with a script by Kurt Wimmer (Law Abiding Citizen, Total Recall).

Point Break lands in the US on Christmas Day. It will head to our shores on 8th January next year.
