Better Call Saul 2

AMC have finally revealed the first plot details for Better Call Saul, the Breaking Bad spin-off which we now know will take place six years before Saul Goodman met Walter White.

It was recently revealed that the debut season of Better Call Saul will consist of 10 episodes and a second season of 13 episodes has already been confirmed. So, what should we expect in terms of story and setting? Well, below is the first official synopsis for the series which is set to debut in 2015.

The series is set six years before Saul Goodman meets Walter White. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and, often, against Jimmy, is “fixer” Mike Ehrmantraut, a beloved character introduced in ‘Breaking Bad.’ The series will track Jimmy’s transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts “criminal” in “Criminal lawyer.” The series’ tone is dramatic, wove with dark humor.

Fans of Breaking Bad will obviously be very happy to learn that Mike (Jonathan Banks) returns for Better Call Saul, and he and Bob Odenkirk will be joined by Michael McKean as Chuck (who you can see in the image below), Rhea Seehorn as Kim, Patrick Fabian as Hamlin and Michael Mando as Nacho.

Chuck is Saul’s brother and each character, “will represent both legitimate and illegitimate sides of the law.”

“It is period,” confirmed creator Vince Gilligan, stating that Better Call Saul takes place in 2002 before adding that “we tried hard on Breaking Bad to try not to be too specific where it is.” However, it sounds like we might also get to see some of Saul’s post-Walter White life, as he added:”You saw on ‘Breaking Bad’ that we like nonlinear storytelling.” Gilligan directed the first episode of the highly anticipated new series.
