There’s a new Pixels trailer out today, and it’s more of the same with 8-bit inspired aliens raining down hell and the handcart on an unsuspecting world.
This is a Chris Columbus film so there’s a decent pedigree already, and with Columbia’s favourites Adam Sandler, Peter Dinklage and Kevin James here to play we’re hopeful it’ll be worth the wait.
There’s a lot here we’ve seen before but some of the citywide destruction harks back very clearly to the short film from Patrick Jean which so inspired people (and Sony) to this big screen adventure.
Sandler is an uneven presence of late, but there’s a lot of talent on screen, and particularly behind the camera. What we are waiting to find out is if there’s a decent script to rally the nostalgia and CG which is fueling interest in this film so far.
The 24th of July is when we’ll find out…
