With its release positioned just two weeks after Avengers: Age of Ultron, you can see why everyone’s getting excited about Chris Columbus’ upcoming blockbuster, Pixels.

Sony isn’t going to risk putting something people won’t want to turn out to see opposite Age of Ultron’s third and fourth frames. It’s already pegged to be the best thing we’ve seen Adam Sandler do in some time, which is a great prospect enough as it is.

In the past few days, the studio’s been teasing a couple of first looks at the film, and now they’ve launched a new promo ahead of its appearance at Comic-Con, inviting conventiongoers the chance to win a role in the movie.

When aliens misinterpret video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war, they attack Earth using the games as models for their various assaults. President William Cooper (Kevin James) calls upon his childhood best friend, ’80s video game champion Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), who had a previous relationship to his attractive wife (Jane Krakowski) to lead a team of old-school arcaders (Peter Dinklage and Josh Gad) to defeat the aliens and save the planet.

Sandler is joined by Michelle Monaghan, Josh Gad, and Peter Dinklage in the leading quartet, with support from Kevin James, Jane Krakowski, and Brian Cox.

Columbus is directing from a script by Timothy Dowling (Role Models) and Tim Herlihy (Big Daddy), based on Patrick Jean’s original short.

Pixels will be released in 2D and 3D on May 15th, 2015. And if you’re free to head to Toronto this autumn/fall, then be sure to drop by the Electric Dreams Factory Arcade for your chance to win a PS4 or a role in the film. In the meantime, here’s Tyrion Lannister to get you in the mood.
