The classroom has long been fertile ground for filmmakers weaving their coming of age stories around the relationship between a pupil and their teacher. They may not always end well (If…),or even make much sense (KindergAARRGGGHHten Cop) but there’s plenty of drama and heart to be had from the passing on of knowledge to those on the brink of adulthood.

The latest in a long line of inspirational teachers comes to us in the form of Kevin James’ Mr. Voss who tries his hand out at MMA in order to win money for his school in Here Comes the Boom, which is out now on Blu-ray and DVD.

Below is an interview showing James going through his fight training.

It’s as subtle as bag of spanners but it does give us the chance to look back over the roster of pedagogical sons and daughters who have inspired and reviled us on the big screen.
