Joe Wright’s latest film takes us back to the beginnings of the world of Neverland, with Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard and Levi Miller as Peter Pan. This is, to all intents and purpose, however Captain Hook: Origins.
The tweaking of familiar tales is a common enough theme for Hollywood as it should, when done correctly, allow for an audience familiar with a world to enjoy a new story to complement, rather than replace, their cherished memories.
This new trailer does appear to hit the usual notes: a colourful melange of tribes and pirates, swordplay, midnight London skylines and so on – but there’s a few decent moments shown in this new trailer.
Jackman and Miller are joined by Rooney Mara and Amanda Seyfried, and the film launches upon the UK’s cinematic shorelines on the 16th of October.
