As is our annual custom, the time for the great and good of the online community to tell us their favourite films of the year has arrived. This will be the fifth consecutive year we’ve run the poll – previous winners have included Skyfall (2012), Gravity (2013), Boyhood (2014), and Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) – and as always, there are numerous candidates who are worthy to take the 2016 Top Ten Movies crown.

For those who haven’t done this before, here’s the ground rules…

UK releases only!: This simply means that films which open in the UK in 2017 such as La La Land, Moonlight, Manchester By the Sea, and A Monster Calls are not eligible for your lists. Furthermore, films such as Creed, Room, Spotlight – all of which opened in the US in 2015 but didn’t arrive in the UK until this year – are fair game. If in doubt, consult the Launching Films website here.

We’ll be watching for this, but we’d appreciate it if you could help us out!

No particular order required: You do not need to go through the trouble of rating your lists 1-10 (because we’re nice like that). Just ensure that you send us your 10 favourites.

Submit your lists before 12:00pm on Friday 23rd December: Please make sure you send through your lists to HeyUGuysTop10@heyuguys.co.uk with your Twitter handle and the name of your website before midday on Friday 23rd December. Alternatively, feel free to DM me on Twitter @awarmann.

If you were under any illusions that your opinion won’t matter that much in the grand scheme of things – and after the political year we’ve had, you really shouldn’t be – last year’s race came down to ONE VOTE. So get submitting, and spread the word!

You can see our previous annual lists from the past few years right here. It’s always fascinating to see which movies stand out in a year packed so full of so many releases.
