One-Direction-This-Is-Us-PosterHaving soared to become the most well-known boy band of the moment, One Direction are just a few months away from making their big screen debut with the documentary-cum-concert movie, One Direction: This Is Us.

The first teaser trailer was released back in February, when fans were asked to submit photos to help unlock the first footage. Since then, we’ve seen a handful of first-look images from the film.

And now, after over two months of fans submitting their photos, Sony have released the film’s first official poster. And to sweeten the deal, the poster will go the extra mile in ‘coming to life’ for the band’s fans.

Paying tribute to those that helped catapult the band to success, the poster’s backdrop is a mosaic made up of thousands of LITTLE THINGS – the fans themselves.  Hundreds of thousands of people have been flooding the official site and submitting photos since February in the hopes that their snapshot will be featured in the movie poster.

The tribute poster also “comes to life” when fans use their smart phones to scan the Zapcode on the poster unlocking an augmented reality experience and exclusive video content of the band.  The Zappar app is free and available for download in the App Store or Google Play.

Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me, Mansome) is behind the camera for the documentary, and he produces alongside Simon Cowell, Adam Milano, and Ben Winston.

One Direction – Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson – were discovered by Simon Cowell on the U.K.’s “The X Factor” in 2010. The band quickly gained a following to become one of the competition’s all-time most popular acts, finishing in the final three and garnering a gigantic and loyal fanbase along the way. In March 2012, One Direction’s debut album, “Up All Night,” made U.S. history, as it was the first time a U.K. group’s debut album entered the U.S. Billboard 200 chart at No. 1. The band has sold over 29 million records worldwide. In November 2012, One Direction released their sophomore album, “Take Me Home,” which includes the No. 1 single, “Live While We’re Young,” and are currently on a sold-out world tour.

One Direction: This Is Us will be released in 3D on 29th August here in the UK, with its US release date set for the following day on August 30th.
