With the Transformers franchise now in Michael Bay’s rear view mirror (though we’ve heard that before), his next project is coming together nicely as The Office star John Krasinski is being eyed for the lead role.

A number of actors, including Woody Harrelson, J.K. Simmons, Walton Goggins and Shea Whigham have all met with Michael Bay about roles in the movie, but it’s Krasinski who is said to be the standout for the lead. If he agrees to join the cast of 13 Hours, Krasinski will play a security operator named Jack Silva.

13 Hours is based on Mitchell Zuckoff’s book Thirteen Hours: A Firsthand Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi, and focuses on the real life attack on the US State Department Special Mission Compound in Benghazi on September 11th, 2012. The Michael Bay helmed movie is set to focus on the six members of a security team who bravely attempted to fight off the terrorists off when the facility was attacked.

This team were all that stood between the terrorists and the Americans stationed there, though there were still a number of casualties (including a US Ambassador) despite their valiant efforts to hold them off.

Chuck Hogan penned the screenplay and Erwin Stoff is producing 13 Hours for Paramount Pictures.
