Warner Bros. have today announced that the next movie in the “Ocean’s” franchise has started production.

Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anna Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina and Rihanna all star in the movie directed by Gary Ross (The Hunger Games, Pleasantville and writer of Tom Hanks’ Big).

The three previous “Ocean’s” movies starred the likes of Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and George Clooney to name but a few and we’ll hopefully see the odd cameo appear in this latest version. Steven Soderbergh is behind the writing credits alongside Olivia Milch and director Ross.

Ocean’s Eleven was released in 2001 with followups Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen following in 2004 and 2007 respectively. The original premise came from the 1960 movie on which the 2001 Ocean’s Eleven was based. Combined the trilogy grossed over $1bn so it’s no wonder we’re seeing another movie getting the green light.

The tide has turned and it’s a whole new “Ocean’s” when eight women plan and execute a heist in New York.

Oceans Eight as it is now officially known is set for release summer 2018.
