I’ll never forget it, Christmas 1986 and my good pal Steven from across the road got what could only be described as the only Christmas present a young boy could want that year – The Nintendo Entertainment System or NES as it became known. Not only did he have the console but he had Duck Hunt, a game where you could shoot a plastic gun at the screen and watch the ducks fall from the sky. I was memorised and i think it’s fair to say i spent as much of that Christmas as i was allowed at his house playing that game!

Paving the way for the SNES, the N64 and then a whole host of hand held devices for the company which at the time stood alone in the land of the console. 30 years on the Japanese company is not quite what it was but just this week releasing Pokemon Go, the organisation is back in the news for all the right reasons.

NESCLASSICHEADER

Yesterday Nintendo announced they will be releasing a brand new(ish) retro version of the classic console which will be known as NES Classic Edition. It will come equipped with 30 games, the list of which is set below and will hit shelves in time for Christmas. The 11th November is the day UK fans will be able to buy the mini console for around £50 – £60. Game has them to pre-order now.

The console is a near min replica of the original system with HDMI cable included and a retro remote so you can also play in HD. These are exciting times! I’m just gutted Duck Hunt didn’t make the list!
