Making a name for himself in blockbuster territory co-writing The Bourne Legacy, Dan Gilroy is making his feature debut with the anticipated Nightcrawler.

Jake Gyllenhaal is front and centre in the anticipated thriller, and after recently seeing a preview video of Gyllenhaal in character, the first official trailer and poster have landed online.

NIGHTCRAWLER is a pulse-pounding thriller set in the nocturnal underbelly of contemporary Los Angeles. Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Lou Bloom, a driven young man desperate for work who discovers the high-speed world of L.A. crime journalism. Finding a group of freelance camera crews who film crashes, fires, murder and other mayhem, Lou muscles into the cut-throat, dangerous realm of nightcrawling — where each police siren wail equals a possible windfall and victims are converted into dollars and cents. Aided by Rene Russo as Nina, a veteran of the blood-sport that is local TV news, Lou thrives. In the breakneck, ceaseless search for footage, he becomes the star of his own story.

Bill Paxton, Riz Ahmed, Rene Russo, Ann Cusack, Eric Lange, Kevin Rahm, and Kathleen York will be joining Gyllenhaal for the ride.

Gilroy is directing from his own script, and brother Tony Gilroy, who helmed The Bourne Legacy, is producing with Gyllenhaal.

Nightcrawler will be released in the US on October 17th before arriving in the UK on November 14th, following its world premiere at TIFF this September.
