After co-writing the franchise-reboot The Bourne Legacy to great success, Dan Gilroy decided to take a leaf out of his brother Tony’s book and turn to directing, making Nightcrawler his next priority.

Jake Gyllenhaal came on board early last year, and it wasn’t long before the independent thriller kicked off production.

Continuing in the indie vein, Open Road has taken to Craiglist to launch the first teaser preview of the film, which stars Gyllenhaal as a driven young man who discovers the nocturnal world of LA freelance crime journalism.

The ad describes him as a hard worker seeking employment:

My name is Louis Bloom. I’m looking for full-time employment. No job too big or too small. I have my own car and phone. Persistent, punctual, polite and hardworking. Will work nights.

Gyllenhaal is joined by Riz Ahmed, Bill Paxton, and Rene Russo.

Gilroy (The Bourne Legacy, The Fall) makes his debut in the director’s chair. He’s directing from his own script, with Gyllenhaal and Tony Gilroy (The Bourne Legacy) producing.

Nightcrawler will be released in the US on October 17th and in the UK on November 14th.
