“We are looking at our library to bring back ideas, shows that were loved, in a fresh new way,” Russell Hicks, president of content and development at Nickelodeon, told Variety.
Retooled versions of these cartoons may not return in their original format as the trade mentions that they could come back as TV movies. It sounds like a big part of the motivation to bring back these shows is the fact many of the people who watched them as youngsters now have kids of their own, so would likely be inclined to introduce them to these.
“We are getting ready to bring back some of the ones they’ve told us multiple times they want to have brought back,” added Hicks. It’s going to be interesting to see what comes back and in what format, but this should come as good news to nostalgic Nick viewers.
