A new batch of images have been released from X-Men: Apocalypse, and they give us a fresh look at some of the highly anticipated movie’s heroes and villains. While Apocalypse’s look has been very divisive, it’s clear that Bryan Singer is embracing the comic books!

Talking to Empire Magazine recently, Michael Fassbender had this to say about where the Master of Magnetism will be when we pick up with him in the 1980s. “When we first meet him here, he’s hung up his cape and he’s fallen in love and had a family,” the actor reveals. “His motives are in some ways justifiable, it’s just his methods that are questionable.”

Director Bryan Singer meanwhile teased Quicksilver’s (Magneto’s son in the comics) role in X-Men: Apocalypse. “You can’t have him run around a kitchen in the Pentagon again. But I can incorporate him into the movie in a much more appropriate and integral way.”

As well as returning cast members James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, and possibly Ian McKellen, X-Men: Apocalypse will also introduce Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Lana Condor, Oscar Isaac, Ben Hardy, Olivia Munn, and a number of others. X-Men Apocalypse is set to be released on May 27th, 2016.
