The Woman In Black looks to be on a lot of people’s radars for 2012. On the BBC’s Film 2011 end of year show, one contributor described it as his most anticipated film of the coming year and our Kelly Alyse, Tracy Ladd, Steven Neish and Jon Lyus all flagged it up as one to watch out for as well.

Although it is easy to assume that the touchstones of haunted house films are now all played out (creaks, writing on the wall, ghostly figures appearing, fog, dark corners), the genre refuses to die and this new TV Spot shows that (ahem) there is life in the old girl yet.

Daniel Radcliffe, despite effusive plaudits for his stage work in Equus, needs to show that he has a career on the big screen outside of Harry Potter and going by the trailers so far for The Woman in Black, it looks like he’ll do just fine.

This TV spot has an excellent air of menace and portent and that winning shot of Radcliffe at the window as a spectre appears over his shoulder is an absolute gem. This continues to have our attention as its release date in early February 2012 draws nigh.

Enjoy. Thank you to Coming Soon.

Dave has been writing for HeyUGuys since mid-2010 and has found them to be the most intelligent, friendly, erudite and insightful bunch of film fans you could hope to work with. He's gone from ham-fisted attempts at writing the news to interviewing Lawrence Bender, Renny Harlin and Julian Glover, to writing articles about things he loves that people have actually read. He has fairly broad tastes as far as films are concerned, though given the choice he's likely to go for Con Air over Battleship Potemkin most days. He's pretty sure that 2001: A Space Odyssey is the most overrated mess in cinematic history.
