Star Wars: The Force Awakens is just around the corner, but as J.J. Abrams puts the finishing touches on that highly anticipated release, Rian Johnson is already hard at work assembling the cast of Star Wars Episode VIII. We already know that Benicio Del Toro has landed a villainous role in the movie, but now Gugu Mbatha-Raw is apparently the latest addition.

There’s obviously no word on who she may be playing, but the Jupiter Ascending star (who was recently rumoured to be up for a role in Robin Hood: Origins) worked with Abrams on short-lived series Undercovers, so the filmmaker could have put a good word in for her.

We’ll have to wait and see on that, but we still have something else Star Wars related to keep you ticking over! Disney XD has released a new trailer for season two of Star Wars Rebels, and it’s packed full of great hints at what’s to come when it returns next week.

In Star Wars Rebels season two, past lives will be revealed and the destiny of our heroes will be changed forever. The transformative new season resumes with Imperial oppression on Lothal growing stronger and the rebels seeking out new allies and additional resources to sustain their fight against the evil Empire. With the help of Ahsoka Tano, the crew of the Ghost enlists some old friends: ex-clone troopers who fought in the Clone Wars.

As the rebels grow in number, so do their enemies. New Inquisitors are dispatched by Darth Vader and sent to crush any threat of rebellion. Through dangerous rescue missions, thrilling space chases, and spectacular lightsaber duels – the bond of the rebel crew will be put to the test like never before. Don’t forget to check out which characters from this series and elsewhere in the Star Wars Universe we want to return in the new movies by clicking here.
