An extended trailer for Jim Carrey’s latest delve into the hit’n’miss world of family comedy in Mr Popper’s Penguins has been released online. The rubber faced actor stars as Tom Popper, a driven salesman whose family he pushes away because of his busy professional life. Cue strange intervention, self realisation and a happy ending?! You can bet your bottom dollar on it.
Whereas we’d usually hanker a strong dislike for something like this, Carrey and director Mark Waters (Mean Girls, Freaky Friday, Just Like Heaven) have an snowy ace up their sleeves…penguins; and we just can’t get past the face that penguins are really quite awesome. But will it be enough to protect the film’s inevitable predictability?
Mr Popper’s Penguins is out in the UK on the 5th August 2011 and stars Jim Carrey, Carla Gugino, Madeline Carroll, Angela Lansbury and Philip Baker Hall.
