We’re just a few days away from the 84th Academy Awards, and Michel Hazanavicius’ The Artist is of course a big contender and expected to do very well on Sunday night. A brand new trailer for Ice Age: Continental Drift has surfaced that parodies Hazanavicius’ silent film, and as you can imagine, it’s pretty great, featuring everyone’s favourite character, Scrat.

Co-directed by Steve Martino and Mike Thurmeier, the fourth film has its usual great line-up of actors and actresses lending their voice to the film, including Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Queen Latifah, Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Chris Wedge, Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Peter Dinklage, Aziz Ansari, Nick Frost, and Alan Tudyk.

“Scrat’s nutty pursuit of the cursed acorn, which he’s been after since the dawn of time, has world-changing consequences – a continental cataclysm that triggers the greatest adventure of all for Manny, Diego and Sid. In the wake of these upheavals, Sid reunites with his cantankerous Granny, and the herd encounters a ragtag menagerie of seafaring pirates determined to stop them from returning home.”

The first three films have done tremendously well, with the latest instalment, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, taking just under a massive $890m. at the international box office. Each film has done progressively better than the last, so I’m interested to see if Continental Drift will break that billion-dollar boundary for the first time in the series.

Ice Age: Continental Drift will be released in 2D and 3D on 6th July here in the UK, before heading across the ocean to the US a week later on 13th July. Here’s the great new trailer for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy.
