The-Hunger-Games-Catching-Fire-Teaser-PosterComing off the back of Silver Linings Playbook, which has recently earned her an Oscar nomination, Jennifer Lawrence will be back on the big screen later this year, reprising her role as Katniss Everdeen in the anticipated The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

We saw a motion poster for the sequel to this year’s immensely successful franchise-starter late last year, more recently followed by our first look at the film. And now Lionsgate have released a handful of hi-res images and a set photo from the film, along with the teaser poster.

“THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.”

Lawrence will once more be joined by a fine cast, headed up by new and familiar faces alike, including Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Woody Harrelson, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Willow Shields, and Donald Sutherland.

Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) is behind the camera this time around, directing from a script first penned by Oscar-winning writer Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours), with Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII) hired for a rewrite, based on Suzanne Collins’ original novel.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be released in the UK and US on 22nd November, making it one of the last and most anticipated blockbusters of the year. For now, here is the official teaser poster, followed by the hi-res images, all of which you can click through to enlarge.
