One of the biggest reveals to have come from the controversial “Sony Hack” last year was that Sony were considering reaching some sort of deal with Marvel Studios to allow them to use Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the underwhelming critical/commercial response to The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

We’ve since heard all sorts of rumours about what might happen to the iconic superhero, with reboots, recasting, and Marvel taking over among the possibilities. The one thing that definitely doesn’t appear to be on the horizon however is The Amazing Spider-Man 3 starring Andrew Garfield and directed by Marc Webb.

A new report from a site with a solid track record of breaking Marvel news have now weighed in with the reveal that a deal is in place, and Spider-Man is set to appear in Avengers: Infinity War – Part One. There are some major details about how this will come together below, so you may want to stop reading now…

WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD

Still with us? Apparently, Marvel are planning on shaking things up with next year’s Captain America: Civil War as Steve Rogers will be killed off just like he was in the comic books. Iron Man meanwhile may end up heading into outer space, taking two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s biggest characters off the table.

Thor meanwhile will end up in a “galactic prison” by the end of Thor: Ragnarok, effectively removing him from the rest of Phase 3 too, leading to a new team of Avengers forming made up of the likes of Ant-Man, Black Panther, and Doctor Strange. None of the big three will appear in Avengers: Infinity War – Part One.

Spider-Man however, will! The major Phase 1 heroes like Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, and a resurrected Captain America will all be there for part two of Avengers: Infinity War though, obviously making the massive movie even bigger. This is all rumour for now of course, but it leaves us with an awful lot to think about, eh?
