Two new posters for Matt Reeves’ Dawn of the Planet of the Apes have been released, and they offer up a look at the fallen San Francisco as the apes (led by Andy Serkis’ Caesar) head into battle. It’s an epic visual, and the sight of Caesar riding a horse with a gun in hand is an intriguing sign of what’s to come!

The international poster is a little less impressive thanks to the inclusion of some poorly Photoshopped floating heads, but the first is definitely worthy of a place on your wall.

The follow-up to Rise of the Planet of the Apes is set ten years after that movie, and focuses on Caesar as he attempts to lead the colony of apes who he led to freedom from captivity several years earlier. Meanwhile, a virus has wiped out most of humanity, but those left are fighting for survival.

The new dynamics of the now much more advanced society of apes promises to be one of Dawn’s most intriguing aspects, while rumour has it that the next movie will take place in a world even more similar to the one seen in the classic Planet of the Apes movies.

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

Starring Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo and Judy Greer, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is set to be released on July 11th.
