The film is rumoured to be the beginning of the upcoming DC Cinematic Universe, tying into the upcoming Justice League movie. And regardless of whether or not that’s true, the Superman reboot has so much potential.
For starters, it has Snyder at the helm. And not only that, but Christopher Nolan serves as producer, and co-wrote the story with David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Trilogy).
The first teaser trailers hit back in the summer, and were nothing short of immense. And with the full-length trailer expected to be attached to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, we’ve now got a brilliant new poster for the epic blockbuster.
“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.”
Henry Cavill takes the lead as Man of Steel, himself, starring alongside a brilliant cast, headed up by Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, and Michael Shannon as General Zod.
Snyder is directing from a script by Goyer (the Batman trilogy), who co-wrote the story with Nolan himself.
Coming courtesy of Facebook, this Man of Steel tease is primed to coincide with the release of The Dark Knight Rises on DVD/Blu-ray – today in the UK, tomorrow in the US.
Man of Steel will be hitting the big screen in 3D and IMAX theatres on 14th June, 2013. I cannot wait. This is going to be immense. For now, here’s the brilliant new poster, which you can click through to enlarge.
