After getting an awesome first teaser trailer and poster for Looper yesterday, we now have two new images of Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the first of his leading roles this year, Premium Rush.

We got the first trailer for the film last September, and with Michael Shannon, Dania Ramirez, and Jamie Chung co-starring, and David Koepp (Spider-Man, Panic Room) and John Kamps (Ghost Town) co-writing under Koepp’s direction, this action-thriller clearly has the potential to be brilliant.

“Dodging speeding cars, crazed cabbies, open doors, and eight million cranky pedestrians is all in a day’s work for Wilee, the best of New York’s agile and aggressive bicycle messengers. It takes a special breed to ride the fixie — super lightweight, single-gear bikes with no brakes and riders who are equal part skilled cyclists and suicidal nutcases who risk becoming a smear on the pavement every time they head into traffic.

But a guy who’s used to putting his life on the line is about to get more than even he is used to when a routine delivery turns into a life or death chase through the streets of Manhattan. When Wilee picks up his last envelope of the day on a premium rush run, he discovers this package is different. This time, someone is actually trying to kill him.”

Gordon-Levitt will of course first be back on the big screen alongside Tom Hardy under Christopher Nolan’s direction this summer in The Dark Knight Rises, which will almost certainly be one of the year’s most epic films.

Premium Rush will be released in the US on 24th August, and has been brought forward two weeks here in the UK to be released on 14th September. That means that it won’t be competing anymore with Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s other film, Looper, on 28th September, and means that his fans (very much myself included) can look forward to two doses of JGL magic/awesomeness across September.
