The road to production on The Lone Ranger was a long one, but shooting has just wrapped, and things are looking brilliant for what promises to be one of the biggest blockbusters of next summer.

We got our first official look at leading stars Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp back in March, in full costume as the Lone Ranger and Tonto, respectively, and now USA Today and the latest issue of THR have debuted a handful of new images of the duo and more.

“The tale re-frames the hero’s journey from law-abiding John Reid to the man who is forced to don the Lone Ranger mask and work outside the law. It includes the silver bullets and, naturally, the famous “Hi-Yo Silver” cry.”

Depp reunites with Oscar-winning director, Gore Verbinski, after their work on the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films, followed by 2011’s Rango.

Starring alongside Hammer and Depp will be a fantastic supporting cast, headed up by Helena Bonham Carter, William Fichtner, Tom Wilkinson, Barry Pepper, Ruth Wilson, and James Badge Dale.

Verbinski is also reuniting with writing duo Terry Rossio and Ted Elliott, who penned all four Pirates films, and co-wrote the script with Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road).

“The challenge was to turn the story on its head and reinvent it,” says Verbinski, pointing out that his story is even narrated by Tonto. “Everyone has heard about the Lone Ranger, but not from the only other who was there — Tonto.”

Armie Hammer is set to appear on tomorrow night’s Tonight Show with Jay Leno, where he will unveil the first trailer, so be sure to check back here to see it when it hits. Smart money says it’s going to be brilliant.

The Lone Ranger is set for release in the US on 3rd July, 2013. Here in the UK, we’re currently scheduled to see it on 9th August, 2013, but here’s to hoping our release date is brought forward, in line with everyone else. For now, here’s our great new look at Depp and Hammer and more new images from the film. And as usual, you can click through to enlarge. Enjoy.
